Wings Over Wahpeton

We had an amazing Airshow in Wahpeton a couple weeks ago. The Canadian Snowbirds were here along with the A-10 Warthogs from Arizona. We also got to see some locals with their stunt planes too.

The Snowbirds getting ready for flight

They were awesome!!!

This is my favorite!!

This is Tommy with the A-10's
We got to know the pilots with them staying at the hotels.
A-10 Warthog

The A-10 is a unique plane. It can go slow, fast, fly high or low and lots of maneuvers.

B-52 Bomber
The Minot Air Force Base flew all the way to Wahpeton just to fly by and start out the airshow. This plane was huge and way too big to land at the Wahpeton Airport

A old War Plane

This plane here was free falling...his engine was off the whole time and even landed without his engine.

Jace the Ladies Man

Sorry the video is sideways, not sure how to rotate it.
They were playing fun loud music at the airshow and Jace wanted to dance so he asked if it would be ok to go dance with the girls. He walked over to them and asked them to dance. It was so cute!!

Flooding

Here are some pictures of the Red River Flooding. It actually came up even more after these pictures were taken. Hard to believe.

This is Wells Memorial Park ~ this is where our County Fair is held every year. The river flowed over the dike and filled up the fairgrounds and flooded all of the buildings down there.
The water started coming over the permanent dike here. After the flood of 97 they built this permanent dike and they made slots in the area shown to complete the dike with medal poles and concrete blocks. The next day the water had gone up and it was half way up this wall.

This is a little parking lot and a walking bridge to cross the river to get to the fair grounds. This is right off Minnesota Ave.

It is kind of hard to see in this picture but this is the rail road bridge to get across the river~ it is almost submerged in water. They had to shut down the trains for a few days. They also shut down the Main bridge here going in to Wahpeton and built a clay dike across it.

Future Police Officer

Tom's dad Ron "Bumpa" was a police officer for many years and gave Tom all his old police things. Jace thinks Bumpa's cop stuff is so cool and is always playing with it. There is a tote full of night sticks, hats, jackets, badges and it's all the "real" stuff! Our Future Police ManJace would take the night stick and hit it on his hand and say "well, well, well, what do we have here"
Getting all ready for Duty

Busted!!!!
We had to be very careful with the handcuffs because Tom didn't know where the keys were. They were only safe on Jace.

Baptism

Our niece Addison was Baptised in Devils Lake.

We were the Godparents for Addison Ann

Update

I know I am slacking in the blogging world! We have had a busy last few months. Well we survived the Flood of 2009 so far. There is so much water you can't even explain it without seeing it! I'm sure some of you that don't live near us have seen us on the news and even national news. It is real ugly here but if we do not get any more rain or snow we should be fine.

A few changes in our lives again. Chris got a job offer to work for a company in Wahpeton at Interstate Engineering. It was a tough decision because he loved his job with Moore Engineering in Fargo. He made a very good choice and took the job here in town, no more commuting, got a big pay raise and the benefits are better. He started last week and loves it!! They have been busy this last week surveying all the dikes in the twin towns to make sure they are at the appropriate level and called for sandbaggers if they weren't. He is getting some great experience with all of this flooding going on. I hope everyone is staying safe out there and your homes are being protected!
