4th Annual Pumpkin Carving

We had our annual pumpkin carving at my aunt and uncles house last Saturday. The kids all brought their costumes and we tried to take some pictures.

Bodin was so scared of Jesse the Werewolf!

So we thought if he was on the other side it would be better. This pictures is so cute it looks like Jace is telling Bodin that it's OK don't be scared.

Jaxtin the Kangaroo, Caylie the Devil, Nevaeh the Poodle, Jesse the Werewolf, Jace the Cowboy and Bodin the Skunk

Little Jaxtin just hangin out, he was so good all day!

Before we started carving pumpkins we went to pick apples off Barb's tree.

We weren't tall enough to get the really big red ones so Christopher was bending the branch down to reach them.

I was helping Jesse use the apple picker and well it didn't quite work they way it should. The apple didn't fall in the picker~it landed on Christopher's head!

Let the carving begin...........

Amy, Sara and Jesse picking out what picture they wanted to carve

They kids usually start gutting the pumpkins and then the big kids finish them

My mom and Bodin took the easy way out and did Mr. Potato Head pumpkins

They turned out so cute!

The Final Pumpkins

This is the one I carved

My mom carved 3 dancing ghosts

This is the one Keisha and Nevaeh carved. We had a little dilemma with this one...after Keisha was done with it Bodin accidentally knocked it over from the table, it was in 5 pieces but a few toothpicks it was back to new.
Sara and Jesse's Skeleton
And the 3 howling wolves was Christopher's, Keisha declared him the winner!

Yee Haw for Halloween!

Jace wanted to be a Doctor for Halloween but we couldn't find a kids Doctor costume so I talked him into being a cowboy. I couldn't pass up this costume I thought it was way to cute! When we went to try it on to take some pictures I told him we had to get his cowboy shirt on ~ he looked at me and said mom this is not a cowboy shirt it's my church shirt :) He can't wait to go Trick-or-Treating so he can get lots of candy!

Sugar Beet Farming

Another day of farming with "Farmer" Kyle! My mom and I took Jace out to the fields where my cousins were doing sugar beets. Jace actually got to go "real" farming not just drive down the road. (They are some of the fortunate farmers that can get into their fields, we were by Wheaton and it was really dry there) He didn't know what to think when Kyle pulled a beet out of the ground, Jace stared running away until he could take a good look at it!

Talkin' business

Now Jace wanted to haul sugar beets too

He was so excited to get one out of the ground
We rode with Kyle in the lifter a few times to fill some trucks, we also rode with Pop and Kelly in the Semi's to get filled. Jace thought it was so cool to go farming and to be able to drive in the fields! He talked non-stop the whole time we were there. He thought the best part was when uncle Bill was teasing him by hanging candy bars out the truck window when we were in the lifter. Leave it to Bill to do something like that! :)

From Farming to Baking

The other day I was packing up a few things from the kitchen and Jace found the cupcake wrappers and wanted to bake. I took the easy way out, went to Wal-Mart and bought some cupcakes. He was mad at me and he wanted to bake them himself. Well I guess you can see who won! He was concentrating so hard to get it all stirred up
After he was done he said mom take a picture of me

He was so excited to have made his own Halloween cupcakes. I think this is one of the only ones that got a pumpkin on top. It took way too long to bake the cupcakes and he ate most of them before we could decorate them.

Our New House

We bought a new house in Breckenridge!!! Here are some pictures of the house and garages. Chris is in heaven....there are 5 stalls worth of garages. 2 stall attached 2 stall detached and 1 single shed. Our closing date is November 28th, it is still so far away but will be here soon! We are so excited to take this next big step in our lives. We are very thankful for all the wonderful family who have helped us to accomplish the things we have and who have helped us out the last few years while Chris went back to college. Education really does pay off!! :)

This is the man's garage, it's even heated.

Farming

Last night we were going to take Jace farming with Pop (Tom) and Farmer Kyle (my cousin). As we were on our way out there they had decided to stop combining corn and switch to sugar beets which would take a couple hours for the change over. I knew Jace would not handle not being able to go farming because he was so excited so we meet Kyle in the combine and he got to ride about 10 miles back to the farm. Jace's exact words "this combine is HUGE"!!!
I asked him if I should ride with and he told me no, to go home mom
Times have really changed since I have been farming last, they make a passenger seat in the cab now. No more sitting on laps or a 1 inch arm rest.

When they got back to the farm Kyle thought this would be a cool picture, Jace is on top of the combine cab.

After the combine ride Jace wanted to ride with Pop in the tractor.

And drive Truck

Pop taught him where the big air horn was. Jace was pretty proud he could make that much noise!!

Supervising on what needed to be done next

Jace even had to get grandma in the truck to haul sugar beets too
I asked Jace what are sugar beets and he told me they make suckers, cookies, candy and milk.

Sully's Hill

We took a drive out to Sully's Hill just outside of Devils Lake today with Christopher's dad Butch. I was quite amazed that there were wild buffalo there. There were 4 baby buffalo and one was only about a month old. I couldn't get any pictures of the little one it was hiding on the other side of it's mom. It was a beautiful drive through the park with all the trees changing color.
This one was right out my window. I was scared to roll it down to take a picture. I didn't want a buffalo in my car!!

There were also Prairie Dogs, I didn't realize that they really bark like dogs.
